132 km from Alice Springs and 1,380 metres above sea level. Mt Sonder is one of the highest peak in the West MacDonnell Ranges. It marks the western end of the section 12 of the Larapinta Trail.

The track to Mt Sonder Summit is 8 hrs 16km return starts and finishes at Redbank Gorge car park.

The colours on the face of Mount Sonder changes throughout the day, from rich rusty red at sunrise to a deep purple in the early afternoon. Capture the spectacular views from Mt Sonder lookout.
